Flatliners: Did He Change His Major?

The movie Flatliners is about a group of medical students who want to experience the afterlife or at least understand what goes on in the afterlife. They take turns flatlining and then be bought back to life. Within the group of students is Oliver Platt’s character, Randy. He doesn’t take part in the experiment, but in a way is involved. As time goes on and the more they do it, they face consequences. At the end of the movie, the students remain at the school to continue studying but have given up experimenting with flatlining.
This is where my theory about Randy begins. I think somehow, someone within the school found out about what was going on and went to the dean or whoever was in charge and told them about what they knew about what the group was doing, which caused the group to get expelled from medical school and since Randy wasn’t directly involved with the experiment, he got a lesser charge of suspension because he was willing to testify against his friends.
As time went on and Randy went back to school, he decided to change his major to psychiatry, which led him to become a psychiatrist at Chicago Med. After seeing his friends go through the experiment, he wanted a better understanding of the mind. He wanted to be able to help others who may struggle with mental health. His friends wanted to know more than they should and Randy wanted to make sure that nobody would go down that road and put themselves in harms way.
Do you think that Oliver Platt’s character took what he witnessed and decide to do something good? Did he start thinking about wanting to protect people from something that we know nothing about?
