A few years ago, I had a fan site named Depp Deluise which was dedicated to Johnny Depp, Peter Deluise and the awesome show that was 21 Jump Street. I had it for quite a while and it was something that I was proud of. After a couple years, it ran its course. The website became quiet and people lost interest. I decided that it was time to end it and break up with Depp Deluise and delete the site.
During my time running the website. I had become facebook friends with Peter Deluise and we had exchanged messages every once in while. One day I had the courage to ask him if I could ask him a few questions to put on Depp Deluise and he was more then happy to answer them.
As I was going back to looking at old Facebook messages, I saw that I still had his original answers. I thought it would be cool to post the questions and answers.
The date of the original message was April 7, 2011. I didn’t think it was that long ago. Damn, time goes by fast.
Being a Deluise, what was it like growing up knowing that your dad was as funny as he was?
There was a lot of laughter in our house. It was great.
What made you decide that directing was something that you wanted to do?
I ended up directing because I wanted more creative input.
Out of all the projects you done, either as a director or an actor, what was the most challenging? Which one was a blast to do?
Episodes with little or no humanity are very challenging because they don't sustain interest. Episodes with characters who are flawed or have much humanity are always a blast.
Favourite Jump Street episode?
Favourite Jump street was "Woolly Bullies" because I got to work with my Dad and my brother Michael.
Ever been to Disneyland? If so, what was your favourite ride?
Favourite ride in Disneyland is "Pirates of the Caribbean".
Have ever laughed at yourself when you look at pictures of yourself back on the day?
I laugh at how dated I looked with a mullet.
What is the most interesting stunt you had to do for a show or movie?
Bar fights are fun stunts to do.
Unfortunately, Peter deleted his Facebook account and I’m not longer facebook friends with him, but I will always be grateful that he took the time to reply to my messages and answer questions for a little unknown fan site that was run by someone who was just a baby when the show originally aired in 1987.
