5 Years Since The World Changed Forever

Who knew that 5 years ago, we would live through something that changed the world. The week of March 11, 2020 will forever be part of history. It was something we thought we’re never had to live through. So many things happened within a span of a few days.

It was a tough and challenging time. We had to learn how to navigate a new normal. We didn’t know if we were able to overcome this new world. We didn’t know what to do. It was a very scary time. We were learning what was going on one day at a time.

People lost jobs, businesses began to close either temporarily or permanently. People were getting sick and not being able to recover. We couldn’t be in the same room without taking the right precautions. Masks were now a part of life. You couldn’t walk into a store without one. It was a very confusing time. At that moment in time, it felt like it wasn’t going to end.

On March 10, the day before the world shut down, I went to a Vancouver Canucks game not knowing that it was the last game of the season. In a way, I’m part of history without knowing it since I was in the crowd during the last NHL game of 2020. We won in the shootout, so we ended on a high.

5 years later and it feels like a lifetime ago. Things have changed, the way we see the world, the way we travel, the way we feel. As much as we want to forget what we experienced and lived through, it still lingers in the back of our minds. We remember where we were, what we were doing, the thoughts we had, but we came together, and we got through it.

I hope that we can learn from this experience. We know what to do and not what to do. We have to remain calm and take it one day at a time.
