Anna Nicole Smith’s Broken Heart After Daniel

Anna Nicole was never the same after the death of her 20 year old son, Daniel. What appeared to be a happy reunion with her son and newborn daughter turned tragic when Daniel was found unresponsive in her hospital room. He was pronounced dead from a lethal combination of medications including methadone, zoloft and lexapro.
Daniel was very close to Anna Nicole. He was the only constant thing in her life. He had been there for her through everything. They relied on each other. After everything that Anna was experiencing in her life, Daniel was able to be the person she was able to trust. Their bond was like no other. Daniel was and always Anna Nicole’s number one priority in life.

Daniel was also pretty shy, especially when it came to the cameras. He would try his best to stay away from being photographed, while Anna Nicole loved being on camera. During a ENews house tour, it was obvious that Daniel didn’t like having the cameras surrounding him. It made him nervous. When he was asked why, he said that it was because he was shy.

The day Daniel met his newborn sister, he embraced both Anna Nicole and Dannielynn and told them he loved them. He took the time to help take care of his mother since she was recovering from a c-section. His love for his mother and sister was undeniable. He was proud to be a big brother.
It was the following morning when Daniel was found dead. Anna Nicole was devastated. She lost the only person in her life that mattered. She lost her entire world. He was her everything. At his funeral, Anna Nicole wanted to be buried with him. She tried to climb into his casket. It was the hardest day of her life.
Anna Nicole wrote “My dearest son Daniel, you were my rock, you were the only one that could keep me solid. Why god took you away from me, I do not understand. Perhaps some day I will. It is so hard to think of you, but I do every second.” in the funeral program.
In February of 2007, just 5 months after losing her son. Anna Nicole died at the age of 39. Her cause was a combined drug intoxication, involving a mix of prescription sedatives and medication, but she died the day Daniel died. Many people believed that she died of a broken heart since she wasn’t able to live without her son.
Both Anna Nicole and Daniel are buried together in the Bahamas.
