Christmas is a kid’s favorite time of year. They are excited to have time off school, to hang out with friends and to play in the snow, but there are times where kids don’t have the opportunity to create those memories, but there are ways that you can make memories for them even if it’s something small. It could be something like taking them to see Santa, baking cookies or decorating a gingerbread house. Kids are pretty easy to entertain. A lot of the time, they’re more than happy to just be involved in whatever it is your doing.
I always wanted to go all out Christmas. I have so many ideas I would love to do with kids during the holidays. Instead of dreading this time of year, I can create memories, but memories are different for everyone. People tend to go all out for Christmas and try and do as much as they can or they take the time for relax and take it easy depending on how busy the year had been.
Kids love to be able to do everything without worrying about having to get for school, but for some kids, their parents still have to work which can make the holidays a tough time for some kids since they feel like they weren’t see their parents on or around Christmas. It would be a good time to really think about what Christmas means to your kids. Sometimes all they want is to be acknowledged and to be heard.
Take the time to do something to do something with your kids. It doesn’t have to be a huge production or cost a whole lot but make it so that your kid will remember it. Go ice skating, if it snows, make a snowman. Be involved, be present and make sure your child is happy and healthy. Your children are going to be adults and this time with them is going to go by really fast. Make it last by spending time with them.
The Christmas memories that you have a kid, make those some memories with your kids. The memories you wished as a kid, create those with them. Christmas is the time of year where you can I don’t want to say “make up for lost time” but use it to your advantage. Get to know your kids. Check in with them, make sure their doing okay. They are going to remember the times when you weren’t there over the times when you were.
Bring the Christmas spirit and enjoy the holidays with your kids. Don’t rush, take your time. The holidays are meant to be cherished.
