Did The Amityville Horror Really Happen?

There was a TV mini-series called Amityville: An Origin Story that was released on one of the streaming sites. During that mini-series, it goes into detail about the DeFeo murders and what happened afterwards when the Lutz family moved in.

The more you watch it and get to understand the different sides of what happened, you start to wonder if what you thought was real was all a hoax. At first, you start to feel like for the Defeo family since you don’t know what really happened before the murders took place, you wonder if the oldest son, Ronald, also known as Butch was really struggling with his mental health or if he had an addiction that really started to take a toll and he took it out on his family. He kept saying he was told to do it, he kept hearing voices which eventually tell you that he was struggling both mentally and with an addiction.

There was also a theory that his sister was also part of the murders, but there was no evidence that she was involved since she was found in the same position as the rest of the family. There’s a lot to the story when it comes to what really happened in the house during the murders and what was going on before it happened.

My thoughts about the series was what was going on when the Lutz family moved in and left after 28 days. One of George Lutz’s step kids was part of the series and he went on saying that everything wasn’t all what it seemed and his parents were using their experience as a get rich fast scheme. It really started to get to George’s head when he started to get recognition and was getting media coverage and movies made about him, but my issue was that the stepson was there, he could have said that a lot of the things happened, but a lot of it was exaggerated to make it seem it was a lot worse than it really was.

If what George was saying about being in the house was false or fabricated, wouldn't you come forward and say what really happened instead of saying things like he’s making everything up for fame and money. If you wanted to clear your name and not have any negative backlash regarding what your stepdad had been saying then you should be able to come forward and be the bigger man and say what really happened.

The stepson is hiding more of the story. He’s not telling the whole truth. Being part of the TV series and saying that his stepdad wasn’t being honest and talking about what was really going on shows that the stepson is doing the same thing and playing off what George had been doing since the 1970s. He’s learnt from his stepfather about playing off what people want to hear and believe. The more the audience wants to know what the 28 days inside of the house, the more the Lutzes will add to the story. Half the stuff that had been said to have happened may not actually be true, but the stepson hasn’t said anything about his own experience, he’s just going off what his parents have said.

He really should be able to finally clear the air after 50 years and just really be honest. There’s nothing else to say about what went on that hasn’t already been said a million times. If George and Kathy were lying about everything, say something and just admit that everything was made up or it was just exaggerated. We all know that everything was just for money and fame. It got out of hand and they just kept going with it. They were so far into the story; they couldn’t back out and just kept adding on to the point where they couldn’t remember what parts were real and what parts were false. Everything had blurred into one big story.
