We look at the world in a different way. We have our own way of navigating. It may not be the same as you, but we’ll get there when we get there. We are compassionate, creative, intelligent and loyal. We can do so much when given the chance. We want to be able to show the world what we can do.
I know people look down on others who are different from themselves They don’t know what they can’t explain. People may think they know everything there is about Aspergers and Autism, but they really don’t know unless they’ve experienced it with a loved one or are on the spectrum themselves. They don’t know the struggles and the challenges it comes to trying to find our way in the world. We try so hard to fit in, but at the end of the day we are who we are.
I’ve always been told to treat others the way you want to be treated. If I want to be respected then I will show respect, but there are people in the world that will do everything in their power to bring people down no matter who they are. I wish people who don’t know about Autism will be able to understand that the world throws you curveballs and no matter who you are, we’re going to hit it out of the park. We just want to be treated like a person. We don’t want to be looked at as someone who is different. We just want to be seen as someone who has so many good things that the world just hasn’t seen. We want to be able to show the world that Autism is real and that it's okay. We can show that it's something to be proud of. Autism exists. We just need all the support we can get to show the world that we're all in this together.
