Christmas with the Kranks is my favorite Christmas movie. It’s based off the book Skipping Christmas by John Grisham. It’s a feel good movie that doesn’t get enough credit. I don’t think a lot of people have heard about it.
The movie is about Nora and Luther Krank who plan to skip Christmas and go on a cruise because their daughter, Blair is in the peace corps and is going to be away for a year, but things change when she calls and tells them that she’s coming home from Christmas and she’s bringing someone. Nora and Luther have to race around and try and get everything ready for their annual Christmas Eve party because they didn’t tell Blair they were planning on skipping Christmas.
Its stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Tim Allen and Dan Aykroyd. Two of the actors are on my dream team.
Christmas with the Kranks is a movie you can have in the background while you do some Christmas baking or wrapping presents. It’s a movie that can get you in the holiday spirit. Add another movie to your “Christmas movies I must watch” list. Maybe it will become a favorite and you have to watch it again every Christmas. Its not a movie that alot of people don't watch since its not Home Alone or another classic Christmas movie, but its one that I will always go to if I'm in the mood for something Christmas. I watch it throughout the year because I wanted something comforting to watch.
Here's a fun fact. There is a scene that takes place in a tanning salon at the mall. The mall they used was Pacific Centre in Vancouver.
