I Had High Hopes For My Blog

When I started my blog in 2009, I hoped that within a couple years, it would develop a following and I would have some sort of a fanbase. I hoped that people would come back on a regular basis and read about my daily life, my thoughts and just about anything that was on my mind. I hoped that I would make connections, make some friends and just be able to be there for someone, but as time went on and the more I posted, it felt like nobody was listening.

I always always hoped that after almost 20 years of blogging, I would get some recognition. I’ve never made money off my blog. I always thought that it would be the first step of being a writer.   I would finally be in a place where I could make a living off something I’ve always wanted to do, but after almost 20 years, I’m starting to think it's never going to happen.

There have been times where I felt like blogging and writing wasn’t worth the time and affect because nobody was reading, commenting or even suggesting topics for me to write about. I second guess myself about my content and wonder if I’m posting too much, are people losing interest because I’m not posting enough. I go back and forth with how much I want to write. I think about going back to my original plan of writing a new post everyday just to have people keep coming back or if I should just keep posting whenever I have an idea, which sometimes wouldn’t happen for days or weeks at a time and by that point, people move on and find something else to read.

I’ve said it in previous posts about not knowing where this blog is heading, but I’m at a loss when it comes to continuing to keep this blog going. I’m discouraged because if nobody is interested in reading then I’m going to lose interest in writing. Why write if I don’t have someone to write for?

Maybe this blog wasn’t worth my time and it's time to move on to something different. Trying to become a writer isn’t working out and maybe it's time to push that dream aside and focus on something else. I haven’t reached any of those milestones I set for myself when it came to my blog and my writing.

I had high hopes for my blog and none of them have been reached.
