We Knew It Was Coming

Towards the end of March, there was a video that was leaked online of a major spoiler for 911. It had appeared that there was going to a death of a major character since the 118 was dressed up to do a funeral possession with his turnout on the back of the fire engine. We expected that the reveal of how he died was going to be shown in the upcoming episodes, but we still had hoped that it was just some sort of dream like a character was in a coma.
We had our speculations that it was an actual death or a fake one to throw off the military or the FBI. We took inventory on who was at the funeral possession since there were people not seen in the video that was leaked. We’ve come up with theories on why it happened, if this was something that was going to happen, did they know since the beginning of season or was it something that the producers and creators had to come up at the last minute because (1) it got us talking, (2) they knew the funeral scene was leaked and they panicked or (3) Tim Minear was playing dumb and just acted like this was planned the whole time the video was just a PR stunt to boosted ratings because fans are going to come up with how this character died since he was a major character.
The problem about the leaked video was that the funeral possession was filmed in broad daylight with at least a handful of firetrucks, the cast were in their formal attire walking behind and the major character’s widow and step kids were walking with his helmet. If the show didn’t want any spoilers to be posted online, they should have been more careful on who they let on set or how many people were allowed to watch.
The man who leaked the video was live streaming pretty much the whole day they were filming the scene, and you could tell at some points that the cast were getting annoyed at being filmed without their knowledge or permission, especially since it was big scene that would give away what was going on in the show.
There were times where the guy live streaming would interact with the actors of they happen to walk by him. There was a moment where didn’t know who Oliver Stark was and was pointing his phone at Lou Ferrigno Jr who plays Tommy. He kept saying as he was pointing at Lou from a distance asking if that was Oliver. Eventually, he figured out who Oliver was.
He wasn’t even focused on the actors themselves as he kept moving his phone and the actors were out of frame. Seemed like he was distracted. He talked pretty much the entire time to the point where people would put the video/live stream on mute so they wouldn’t have to hear him.
There’s mean a lot of talk about what happened on the show. People aren’t happy. People have said they’re going to stop watching the show. There’s been talk about if Peter Krause really wanted to leave the show. There’s been rumors that he asked for more pay since he felt he wasn’t making enough so they wrote him out instead. Then there’s the rumor that he wanted to do the show for as long as he could, he could do another 100 episodes, but they did what they did without even seeing if Peter wanted it or not.
There’s a lot going on with the show. I think Tim Minear as lost the meaning of the show and is just doing whatever he wants because he has that power. He doesn’t think about the impact the show has on people and not in a good way. People enjoy watching because it’s crazy, intense and has some humor to it, but once he knew how popular the show was getting, he’s taking chances on losing viewers, he’s risking losing the show all together because of the decisions he makes. It seems like he changes his mind last minute on storylines because somehow, a plot or storyline gets leaked, and he panics. If he doesn’t want anything to get out, don’t make it obvious.
I’ve never seen more behind the scenes footage of a show then 911, especially over the last year or so. If you don’t want to risk spoilers and getting things leaked then put more protection on set, have things set in place about filming. Have security watch people on set and have them crack down on people who want to film. It’s bound to happen time and time again.
